Q: How to replace the brake pads on the front wheels of the Nissan Xterra?
A: Remove the cap from the brake fluid reservoir and two-thirds of the fluid. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands, block the wheels, and remove the wheels. Inspect the Brake Disc and if machining is necessary, follow the instructions. Wash the brake with cleaner and use a C-clamp to depress the pistons. Unscrew the lower caliper mounting bolt and remove the pads, retainers, and shims. Apply anti-squeal compound to the back of the pads and install them. Clean the slide pin and coat it with grease. Swing the caliper down, install the mounting bolt, and firmly depress the brake pedal. Check the level of the brake fluid and check the brakes before normal service.
