Loose dust can be removed by striking the filter against a hard surface or using compressed air, and the filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles or every 24 months. To remove the filter, unscrew the wing nut(s), lift off the housing cover, and take out the filter element, ensuring to release any thumb latches. Before installing a new or original filter, clean the inside of the housing, then place the paper air filter box filter, seat the top cover, and tighten the wing nut(s), securing any thumb latches if present. All models use a flat cartridge type air filter box element, and during installation, ensure that the word UP is facing upward.
