  Q: How do I remove and install the starter on Nissan Altima?

  A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the fresh air intake duct. On 2010 and earlier models with an automatic transaxle, remove the air filter housing. On all automatic transaxle-equipped vehicles, remove the battery and the battery tray. Disconnect the wiring from the starter (Starter motor B+ terminal, S terminal and lower mounting bolt (four-cylinder engine)). Note: The wiring and mounting bolts are accessible from above on some models, but on other models they are more easily accessed from below. Remove the two mounting bolts and remove the starter (Starter motor upper mounting bolt (four-cylinder engine)). Installation is the reverse of removal. Reconnect the battery and perform the necessary re-learn procedures.
