Q: How do you check and replace engine and trans axle mounts on Nissan Murano?
A: There are three engine mounts and one trans axle mount; the engine mounts are position at the passengers side, front and rear part of the engine block while the trans axle mount is bolted to the left of the trans axle. Again in order to inspect the mounts one has to slightly lift the engine and the vehicle must be appropriately placed on jack stands and the engine /trans axle shall be supported from above either by a hoist or three bar support fixture. Check the mounts for cracks, any hardening and if the rubber of the mounts is in any way separated from the bushing in the middle or for any relative movement between the mounts and the engine or frame using a large screw driver to pry; if some movement is observed lower the engine and tighten the mount bolts. To perform a front or rear engine mount replacement, elevate the front of the car and safely place it on jack stands and strip off the splash shields beneath the car. Place an engine hoist on the top of the engine to lift it without using a jack under the Oil Pan that will damage the oil pump pick-up. The removal and installation can be as follows; The engine mount to chassis bolts and the engine mount to engine mount bracket nut is to be undone and the engine ascending a little to allow the removal of the mount from the vehicle vice versa for installation.
