Nissan Xterra Fender Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and install a fender on Nissan Xterra?
A: Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, support it securely on jackstands and remove the front wheel. Remove the Hood. Remove the front Bumper. Also remove the fender flare and the mudguard from the outside of the wheelwell if equipped. Remove the cowl cover on the side from which you are removing the fender. On Pathfinder models, it will be necessary to remove the entire cowl, since it is a one piece design. It will also be necessary to remove the antenna when removing the right fender on earlier models. Pry out the plastic rivets, remove the screws and remove the inner fenderwell liner. Remove the bolts securing the lower half of the fender. Open the door and remove the upper fender-to-door pillar bolt in the doorjamb. Remove the mounting bolts securing the top of the fender. Detach the fender. It's a good idea to have an assistant support the fender while it's being moved away from the vehicle to prevent damage to the surrounding body panels. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten all nuts, bolts and screws securely.
