Q:
How do you remove and refit the air cleaner assembly and associated ducts on Nissan Juke with Petrol engine? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the air filter box, lift the tab to disengage the upper inlet air duct from the air filter box housing, then lift the duct upward to disengage the lower mounting peg from the grommet and remove it from the engine compartment. For 1.6 litre engines, disconnect the wiring connector from the mass airflow sensor and release the wiring loom retaining clip from the air filter box. Slacken the retaining clip and detach the outlet air duct from the air filter box, then undo the air filter box retaining bolt. Pull the air filter box upwards to disengage the two lower locating pegs from the rubber mountings and remove it from the engine compartment. Refitting involves reversing the removal process, ensuring all hoses are properly reconnected and ducts are securely held by their retaining clips. For the lower inlet air duct, first remove the upper air duct, then on 1.6 litre engines, remove the front bumper and partially remove the front wheel arch liner on the left-hand side. Undo the air duct retaining bolt(s) and remove the duct from the engine compartment. To remove the outlet air duct from the air filter box to the throttle housing or turbocharger, slacken the retaining clip and detach the duct, then release the clip and disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose if applicable. Slacken the clip securing the other end of the duct to the throttle housing or turbocharger and remove it from the engine compartment. For 1.2 litre engines, to remove the air inlet hose from the intercooler to the turbocharger, first undo the retaining bolts and move the coolant expansion tank aside, then release the vacuum hose from the clips on the hose support bracket and undo the nuts securing the support bracket to the cylinder head cover. Release the wire clips securing the air inlet hose to the intercooler and turbocharger and remove the hose from the engine compartment. To remove the air inlet tube between the intercooler and throttle housing on 1.2 litre engines, first undo the retaining bolts and move the coolant expansion tank aside, then undo the bolt securing the air inlet tube to the electric cooling fan shroud. Release the retaining clip and disconnect the breather hose from the air inlet tube upper elbow, disconnect the wiring connector from the turbocharger boost pressure sensor, release the wire clip securing the air inlet tube to the intercooler, and undo the bolts securing the air inlet tube elbow to the throttle housing before removing the hose from the engine compartment. Refitting is done by reversing the removal steps, ensuring all hoses are properly reconnected and ducts are securely held by their retaining clips.
