Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands placed under the frame rails.

Start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle on jackstands. Then, remove the wheel and the fenderwell liner. Disconnect the upper control arm from the steering knuckle by removing the cotter pin, loosening the upper balljoint nut, and using a balljoint separator to break the balljoint loose from the knuckle. Remove the nut. Secure the steering knuckle with wire to prevent damage. Finally, remove the upper control arm pivot bolts and nuts, noting their orientation.
