    Q:
How to access, inspect and replace Clutch Disc,Clutch Fork,Pressure Plate and Release Bearing in a Nissan Pathfinder? Posted by Customer
    A:
To access the clutch components, the transmission must be removed and the engine supported. The release bearing must be pushed towards the engine and pried from the diaphragm spring. The flywheel and pressure plate should be inspected for indexing marks and wear. Replace the pilot bushing and release, and the lining on the clutch disc should have at least 1/32 inch of lining above the rivet heads. The machined surfaces and diaphragm spring fingers should be inspected for wear. Before installation, the flywheel and pressure plate should be cleaned and the clutch disc should be centered. The pressure plate-to-flywheel bolts should be tightened in a crisscross pattern and the release bearing should be lubricated. Finally, the transmission and components should be reinstalled and tightened to the proper torque specifications.

    Q:
How do you remove and install the clutch release bearing in Nissan 350Z? Posted by Customer
    A:
2006 AND EARLIER 350Z 2007 AND EARLIER G35 COUPE AND 2006 AND EARLIER G35 SEDAN MODELS. For removal, first remove the release cylinder. Then, remove the transmission. After that, remove the boot from the side of the transmission and disengage the release lever retainer from the ballstud. A screwdriver can be used to disengage the release lever retainer spring from the ballstud. For inspection, hold the outer portion of the bearing and rotate the center while applying pressure. If the bearing doesn't turn smoothly or if it's noisy, replace it with a new one. Wipe the bearing with a clean rag and inspect it for damage, wear and cracks. Don't immerse the bearing in solvent - it's sealed for life and to do so would ruin it. If the bearing needs to be replaced, remove it from the hub with a puller. The new bearing will have to be pressed onto the hub. For installation, lightly lubricate the clutch release lever where it contacts the release bearing hub and the ballstud. Attach the release bearing to the release lever. Make sure the bearing is properly engaged by the retainer clip. Lubricate the clutch release lever ballstud or pivot pin with high-temperature grease, insert the release lever through the boot, slide the release bearing onto the input shaft bearing retainer and push the lever onto the ballstud until the lever retainer pops onto the stud. Make sure that the release lever pivots freely and the release bearing slides freely on the input shaft bearing retainer. Apply a light coat of high-temperature grease to the face of the release bearing, where it contacts the pressure plate diaphragm fingers. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten all transmission-to-engine bolts to the torque. For all other models, the clutch release bearing and bearing hub are integral components of the clutch release cylinder. Replace the release cylinder as a single assembly.
