To start dismantling the car, you should unplug the cable of the car battery's negative terminal. Turn the wheels so that they are parallel to each other, lock the steering wheel while turning off the car's engine by retracting the key. Then, pull out the clockspring cable along with the steering wheel; the clockspring, especially, must be double-taped for centering before it is detached. Take off the instrument panel steering column cover, lower steering column knee bolster and heater outlet duct in the lower part of the steering column. Pull down the Shift Indicator Cable Loop and free the pin on the Shift Indicator Lever, then, take off the nut of the mounting bolt in order to free the Shift Indicator Cable Adjustment Assembly from the steering column. Remove the shift cable from the selector lever arm and shift lock actuator connector. It is necessary to disconnect the multi function switch but do not take it out of circuit; now place it aside. Pull off the Transaxle Control Switch and the ignition switch harness from the ignition switch. When removing the lower steering column shaft yoke, you would unscrew the pinch bolt and in the process, you would need to support the steering column extraction process out of the vehicle. To instal, position the steering column with the lower yoke mated to the splines of the intermediate steering shaft and then tighten the mounting bolts and the lower yoke pinch bolt. The rest of the installation process is the reversal of removal process but the clockspring must be well-aligned before the steering wheel is reattached.
