These engines are equipped with a combination oil cooler/oil filler adapter mounted to the right end of the oil pan, which includes an oil pressure relief valve that redirects oil flow to bypass the oil cooler when pressures are too high, with two hoses connecting the cooler to the engine. To replace the oil cooler, loosen the lug nuts of the right front wheel, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the right front wheel. Next, remove the right front inner fender splash shield, drain the cooling system, and place rags under the cooler to catch any oil and coolant spillage. Detach the hose clamps and disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the oil cooler, then remove the oil filter, followed by the oil cooler connector bolt, and take out the oil cooler and O-ring from the oil pan. Lubricate the new oil cooler O-ring with engine oil and install it in the groove on the oil cooler, then position the oil cooler onto the oil pan and install the connector bolt, tightening it to the specified torque without over-tightening. Finally, connect the coolant hoses to the cooler, install the clamps, put in a new oil filter, change the engine oil, and refill the cooling system.
