If the crankshaft or camshaft has been rotated or the engine disturbed, follow the procedure to initially time the engine. Locate the No. 1 cylinder firing position using the ignition timing marks on the crankshaft front pulley. Turn the crankshaft until the piston in the No. 1 cylinder is up on the compression stroke. Lightly oil the distributor housing and install it so that the rotor points toward the No. 1 spark plug terminal when the cap is installed. Ensure the reluctor teeth are aligned with the stator assembly. Install the distributor hold down bolt and spark plug, then continue with the distributor installation procedure.
