To check the wiper motor circuit, begin by examining the wiring diagrams for wire colors and locations. For voltage verification, use a grounded 12-volt test light on each terminal at a connector until it lights. If wipers operate slowly, ensure the battery is in good condition and fully charged; if so, remove the wiper motor and manually operate the wiper arms to check for binding in the linkage and pivots, lubricating or repairing as needed before reinstalling the motor. If slow operation persists, inspect for loose or corroded connections, particularly the ground, and replace the motor if connections are intact. If wipers do not activate, check the fuse; if it's fine, connect a jumper wire between the wiper motor and ground, then retest. If the motor operates, repair the ground connection; if not, check for voltage at the motor with the ignition on, removing the cowl cover if necessary. If voltage is present, test the motor off the vehicle with fused jumper wires, ensuring it operates at both low and high speeds. If it works, check for binding linkage; if not, replace the motor. If there's no voltage, check the accessory relay and the switch for continuity. For inoperative interval function, check wiring continuity between the switch and wiper control module, and test the resistance of the delay control knob. If wipers fail to park, ensure a good ground at terminal 4 on the motor connector, with resistance under 5 ohms. If wipers won't shut off unless the ignition is off, disconnect the wiring from the wiper control switch; if they stop, replace the switch, but if they continue running, the limit switch in the motor is defective and requires replacement. For wipers that won't retract below the hood line, check for mechanical obstructions and continuity in the wiring; if all is clear, replace the wiper motor. For front wiper motor replacement, remove the wiper arms, cowl cover, and electrical connector, then detach the wiper motor/linkage assembly and remove the retaining bolts before taking out the motor. Installation follows the reverse order. For the rear wiper motor, depress the retaining tab to remove the wiper arm, take off the trim bezel, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the mounting screws, with installation also reversing the removal steps.
