    Q:
How do you remove and install the front and rear bumpers for Nissan Maxima? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, set the parking brake, then lift the car and secure it with jackstands; Make sure that the parking brake is engaged before lifting the vehicle and placing it chocks on jackstands. Remove the cable by pulling on theclamp and unscrew any further connectors to the negative terminal of the battery that might hinder the bumper extraction process. For makes of models prior 2003, peel off the splash panel at the lower part of the car, beneath the radiator and bumper, then the radiator grille, headlight shells, turn signal lamps and cornering lamps. Subsequently, it is time to remove the headlights and cornering lamps and to disarm the last fasteners that make the fastening of the bumper cover and contuse that the fenders and the cover itself were not damaged. At the vehicle side, the bolts of the front bumper beam bracket need to be loosened and thereby extricated from the chassis; in addition, the entire bumper assembly needs to be disconnected from the vehicle. For 2004 and later models, begin by taking off the grille, and the screws found on the under part of the bumper fascia; after that, you will release the inner fender to the fascia. Unbolt the side and front covers that are located under the engine and draw the bumper fascia away from the vehicle, also unscrew the electrical connectors that are situated between the bumper fascia and all the lights and finally, pull the foam pad from the front portion of the reinforcing bar. Remove the AHered temperature sensor if installed, remove the reinforcing bar from the brackets, and remove the bumper brackets if necessary. On 2003 and earlier models, go to the rear to uninstall the fasteners under the car in the bottom of the rear bumper fascia area and under the license plate area, and open the trunk to remove the trim which would expose the upper part of the mounting bolts. If necessary there is an easy access to the rear bumper beam, and that is to remove the mounting bolts, and the rear bumper beam also comes off. For 2004 and later models, take off the rear trim panel inside the boot, then you will see the mounting nuts of the rear combination lamps, disconnect the lamps connectors and then take off the lamps. Last, and place the bumper fascia to the vehicle Sf, unscrew every trim clip that attaches the bumper fascia to the vehicle , and then released the foam from the bumper reinforcing bar before you will loosen the mounting nut. Installation essentially involves the activities that are considered to be the reverse of the removal activities.
