Q:
How do you remove and replace a fuel filter on Nissan 300ZX? Posted by Customer
A:
Relieve the fuel pressure, then loosen both fuel hose clamps and the filter retaining clamp screw to remove the fuel filter. Note the flow direction of the filter before removal, ensuring the top reads out and the bottom says in. Wrap a rag around the fuel filter to absorb any spilled fuel. Hold the filter with one hand while pulling the hose off the top with the other, and remove the hose clamp. With the filter in one hand, pull the hose off the bottom and remove the old hose clamp. Take out the old filter from its retaining clamp bracket and insert the new filter with the word out facing up. Slide a screw clamp onto each hose, then insert the bottom hose onto the in side of the filter and tighten the hose clamp. Next, insert the top hose, which leads to the fuel injection unit, onto the out side of the filter and tighten the hose clamp. Finally, tighten the fuel filter retaining clamp screw.

Q:
How do you release fuel pressure on fuel injected models before removing the fuel filter in Nissan 240sx? Posted by Customer
A:
To release fuel pressure on fuel injected models before removing the fuel filter, first remove the gas cap and then disconnect the fuel pump fuse, relay, or electrical connection to disable the fuel pump. Start the engine and let it run until it stalls, then crank the engine a few times to relieve pressure. Turn the ignition switch off and reconnect the fuse, relay, or electrical connection. On some late models, the "Check Engine Light" may remain on after installation; to erase the memory code in the control unit, disconnect the battery cable for one minute and then reconnect it after installing the fuel filter. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable and locating the fuel filter on the right side of the engine compartment, placing a container underneath to catch excess fuel. For the Stanza 4 x 4 wagon, the fuel filter is located inline under the floor near the fuel pump. Disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses from the fuel filter, ensuring the inlet hose does not fall below the fuel tank level to prevent gasoline from draining out. Remove the fuel filter from its clip and replace the assembly. If necessary, replace the inlet and outlet gas hose lines, install the fuel filter assembly, and always replace the gas hose clamps on EFI models, tightening the clamp so that the end is 3mm from the hose end while ensuring the screw does not contact adjacent parts. Finally, start the engine and check for fuel leaks, and if the "Check Engine Light" remains on, disconnect the battery cable for one minute and then reconnect it to erase the code.
