Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Insert a large screwdriver or pry bar into the space between the transmission extension housing and the cross member and try to pry the transmission up slightly; it should move very little. Support the transmission with a floor jack, place a block of wood on the jack head to act as a cushion, remove the bolts and nuts attaching the mount to the cross member and transmission, raise the transmission slightly with the jack and remove the mount. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, be sure to tighten all nuts and bolts securely.

The engine mount-to-frame bolts and the engine mount-to-mount bracket retaining nut should be removed, and an engine hoist should be attached to the top of the engine for lifting. The engine should be slightly raised until the engine mount can be removed from the vehicle.

During the check, the engine must be raised slightly to remove the weight from the mounts.
