To remove the exhaust manifold, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and the oxygen sensor electrical connector(s) located at the rear of the valve cover(s). Block the rear wheels, set the parking brake, and loosen the front wheel lug nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the wheels, under-vehicle splash shield, and fenderwell liners. Apply penetrating oil to the exhaust fasteners and allow it to soak in before removing the front exhaust pipe(s). If the center and rear exhaust pipes cannot be moved rearward enough for removal, they will need to be taken out. Next, remove the oxygen sensor(s) and support the engine from above to take out the engine mount insulators and brackets. If the right-side exhaust manifold is being removed, take out the dipstick and dipstick tube, then unbolt the exhaust heat shields from the exhaust manifolds and remove the fasteners securing the manifolds to the cylinder heads. For installation, use a scraper to clean all old gasket material and carbon deposits from the manifold and cylinder head mating surfaces. Position the new exhaust manifold gaskets over the studs on the cylinder head, ensuring the marked arrow points up and faces outward. Install the manifold and thread the mounting fasteners into place, then tighten the nuts/bolts from the center out in several increments to the specified torque. Reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order of removal, and finally, run the engine to check for exhaust leaks.

Position the new exhaust manifold gaskets over the studs on the cylinder head, ensuring the marked arrow points up and faces outward.
