    Q:
How to replace the Brake Pad on Nissan Rogue? Posted by Customer
    A:
It is recommended to use extreme precaution for 2018 and later models that have the EBP as the system will have to be turned off before working on the rear brakes or else the vehicle will automatically engage the EBP and requires the use of the Nissan "CONSULT" scan tool or an equivalent. For 2014 and later models, excluding Rogue Select, two types of front calipers are utilized: Single-piston caliper known as Type 1, and dual-piston caliper as the Type 2; all other components of either system are identical. This procedure applies to front and rear disc brakes. First, unscrew the cap from the brake fluid reservoir you initially mentioned; then, free the lug nuts, lift the car, put jackstands securely under it, and block the wheels at their opposite ends. Wheels must be dismantled and it is advisable to deal with one brake assembly at a time, while checking the brake disc critically; if it has to be machined, then refer to the appropriate step concerning disc removal. With all the calipers but the one with the EBP, retract the piston into the bore using a C-clamp to allow room for the new brake pads; see to it that the master cylinder fluid does not spill. Clean the brake and thoroughly rinse with cleaner and air dry, or loosen the upper tab of the brake caliper, and unbolt the caliper lower mounting bolt without unbolting the brake hose banjo bolt if you want to service it. Lift the caliper by using a suitable tool and pull the inner and outer brake pads with their pad retainers out, clean and thereafter grease the slide pins for the brake pad with high-temperature brake grease before fitting them back again. Place the pad retainers and shims, put the anti-squeal compound on the back of both pads, and put the inner and outer brake pads correctly placing the wear indicator. Lower the caliper back into place, fit the mounting bolt into its-threaded hole and tighten to correct torque, then the wheel lug nuts. After finishing the work, it is recommended to apply a number of force to the brake pedal several times in order to make sure the pads touch the disc, check the level of brake fluids and if it is low it is necessary to fill it with taking extra care on the efficiency of the brakes before returning the vehicle back to its normal use. Further, for models with attached EBP, the system needs to be first activated and then auto-calibrated after the rear brake work, which can be done only with the help of Nissan "CONSULT" scanner or device of the same functionality.
