In 2001 and earlier models, fuel circulates through metal lines from the tank to the fuel injection system and back. All models have an electric fuel pump and sending unit in the tank, and from 2000, the fuel filter is also inside. From 2004, a single assembly combines the pump, regulator, sending unit, and filter. A vapor return system directs vapors back to the tank. The exhaust system includes exhaust manifolds, a diverter pipe with an oxygen sensor, a catalytic converter, a muffler, and a tailpipe.

For 2004 and later models, you should disconnect the hoses and electrical connector from the top of the fuel pump assembly, unscrew the locking ring, and lift the assembly out of the tank. Ensure the fuel lines are positioned correctly, then tighten the mounting bolts or lock ring securely, connect the electrical connector, and reinstall the access cover and rear seat.
