Q:
What are the steps involved in changing the engine oil for the 1994 Nissan Quest? Posted by Customer
A:
Here are the steps involved in changing the engine oil: Start the engine and let it reach normal operating temperature. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine. Raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands to ensure safety. Position a drain pan under the oil pan drain plug. Remove the oil pan drain plug using a proper-sized box-end wrench or socket. Move the drain pan under the oil filter and loosen it with a filter wrench. Unscrew the filter from the block, tilting the open end up to prevent oil spillage. Wipe off the mounting surface on the block and ensure no old gasket remains. Apply engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter and screw it into place, tightening it by hand. Remove all tools and materials from under the vehicle and lower it. Add new oil to the engine through the oil filler cap, pouring four quarts of fresh oil. Wait for the oil to drain into the pan and check the level on the dipstick. Start the engine and check for leaks at the oil pan drain plug and around the oil filter. Tighten any leaks if necessary. Wait a few minutes and recheck the oil level on the dipstick, adding oil as needed. During the first few trips after an oil change, check frequently for leaks and proper oil level.
