The sunroof is powered by a single motor located in the roof, with the sunroof switch (tilt and slide) sending an operation signal to the motor's CPU encoder when pressed. Power is supplied from the Body Control Module (BCM) under the instrument panel, which detects the open/close condition via the front door switch. The sunroof retains power for 45 seconds after the key is turned off, which can be canceled by opening the front door, turning the ignition switch to ON, or allowing the time to elapse. With the ignition On but the engine Off, the sunroof control switch can be operated through its functions, and the sound of the motor should be audible. If the motor runs but the sunroof glass doesn't move, there may be an issue with the drive mechanism. If there is no sound from the motor, checking the fuses in both the interior fuse panel and the engine compartment power distribution center is necessary. If voltage is present at the switch, it should be disconnected and checked for continuity in all positions; if continuity is absent, replacement is required. For sunroof removal, a qualified repair facility should be consulted for any repairs needed on the sunroof tracks or glass. To remove the motor assembly, the sunroof should be fully closed, the headliner removed, the motor assembly screws taken out, and the wiring harness disconnected before pulling the motor assembly down, with installation being the reverse of removal.
