    Q:
How do you remove and install the transaxle on Nissan Rogue? Posted by Customer
    A:
To carry on with the removal of the transaxle, start by draining the transaxle fluid. The following components should be disconnected; Battery, battery tray and battery tray bracket for 2013 model or the 2014 Rogue select and the air inlet duct in addition to air filter housing. Unscrew the front wheel lug nuts and the driveaxle/hub nuts and then safely jack up the vehicle using jackstands. Suck out the engine coolant and then remove the engine splash shield. Remove the transaxle dipstick tube, replace the O-ring on it and on the transaxle if it is equipped with a transaxle cooler than disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove the hoses connected to the transaxle. Take off the front part of the exhaust system, drivaxles, and drive shafts for the AWD variant. Take off the shift cable, then unbolt the starter motor assembly and lift the inspection cover to mark the torque converter and the driveplate for mating. Before the removal of the subframe, the transaxle upper mounting bolts have to be removed and the engine should be supported from above. Attach a transmission jack and take out the rest of the bolts securing the transaxle and cautiously pull out the transaxle from the dowel pin provided on the engine block, which should result in the detachment of the torque converter. Remove the transaxle out from under the vehicle and place it to one side. In the 2014 and later model year except Rogue Select, it is necessary to strip out the engine and transaxle, disconnect the connection connectors, and disconnect the wiring harness. When the transaxle is on the hoist, briefly support the vehicle on a retail floor jack locating the transaxle cranial bolts and separating the engine and the transaxle. In the assembly process, new O-rings and copper washers must be fitted; the transaxle cooler and lines must be purged; and there needs to be assurance that the torque converter hub has engaged; and in positioning the transaxle great care is needed. Screw in the mounting bolts without excessive force, apply the described amount of effort to the specified torque, and screw in the torque converter bolts. That is the flow of the rest of the installation initialization which in turn is followed by the reverse flow of the removal process. Make water specifications and replenishments for the cooling system and transaxle and engine and shift through all gears, fluid level check after engine warming up with the road test for leakage.
