    Q:
What steps should be followed for replacement of the engine mounts for the 2001 Nissan Xterra? Posted by Customer
    A:
For replacement, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and setting the parking brake. Then, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the splash shields from under the vehicle. Remove the engine mount-to-frame nuts, two on each side. In the engine compartment, remove the engine mount-to-engine mount bracket nut(s), one on each side. Attach an engine hoist to the top of the engine for lifting, making sure not to use a jack under the oil pan. Raise the engine slightly until the engine mount can be removed. To remove the engine mount brackets, detach the four retaining bolts securing the mount bracket to each side of the engine. Installation is the reverse of removal, applying thread locking compound to the mount nuts before tightening them to the specific torque.

    Q:
How should the engine be raised during the check for the 2002 Nissan Frontier? Posted by Customer
    A:
The vehicle should be raised and supported securely on jackstands, the splash shields should be removed, and a jack should be positioned under the engine oil pan. A large wood block should be placed between the jack head and the oil pan, and the engine should be carefully raised just enough to take the weight off the mounts.
