To remove the wheel, loosen the lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and secure it on jackstands while blocking the wheels at the opposite end, then take off the wheel. For models from 2003 and earlier, disconnect the parking brake cable from the rear caliper by unbolting the cable bracket and disengaging the cable from the toggle lever. Remove the banjo bolt and discard the old sealing washers, clean the brake assembly, then take off the parking brake cable clip and unhook the cable from the lever. On models from 1995 and later, unscrew the upper caliper bolt; for earlier models, unscrew the bolt without needing to remove the brake hose banjo fitting bolt for pad replacement. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper and plug it to prevent contamination and fluid loss. Next, remove the caliper mounting bolts and detach the caliper from the mounting bracket. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring to use new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose banjo fitting and tighten the banjo fitting bolt and caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Finally, bleed the brake system, check for leaks at the hose connections, and test the brakes carefully before returning the vehicle to normal service.
