Q:
How do you properly remove and replace the fuel level sensor and fuel pump, ensuring a secure and leak-free installation on Petrol Nissan Juke? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the Fuel Level Sensor, first depressurise the fuel system and disconnect the battery negative terminal. Lift out the rear seat cushion for access, then turn the three retaining tabs 90 degrees to lift off the access cover, exposing the fuel pump and Fuel Level Sensor. Brush away any dust or dirt around the Fuel Level Sensor to prevent it from falling into the fuel tank during removal. Disconnect the wiring connector from the top of the Fuel Level Sensor and depress the coloured tabs of the quick-release fitting to disconnect the fuel hose, covering the hose union and fitting to prevent dirt ingress. Twist the locking ring from the top of the fuel tank and carefully lift the Fuel Level Sensor out, avoiding damage or fuel spillage. Remove and discard the sealing ring from the top of the fuel tank, as a new one will be needed for refitting. Position the new locking ring with the arrow mark pointing toward the rear of the vehicle and temporarily screw it back into place, tightening securely. Depress the legs of the Fuel Level Sensor locking tabs and slide the Fuel Level Sensor from the fuel pump body, releasing the wiring from the guide at the top of the pump. Use a screwdriver to ease the Fuel Level Sensor wiring end fittings off the connectors at the top of the pump, then remove the Fuel Level Sensor. For refitting, reverse the removal steps, ensuring to fit a new sealing ring to the top of the fuel tank, insert the fuel pump into the tank while engaging the tab with the cut-out, and keep the pump pressed down until the locking ring is fitted and tightened. Position the locking ring with the arrow mark pointing toward the rear and securely tighten it. Finally, ensure the fuel hose and wiring connector are reconnected to the Fuel Level Sensor, reconnect the battery, start the engine, and check for any fuel leaks before replacing the access cover.
