To remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket, take off the oil pan and pick-up tube. Next, detach the alternator adjusting bar and the bar-to-oil pump bolt. Unbolt the power steering pump without disconnecting the hoses and position it aside, then remove the power steering pump bracket. From the front of the engine, unbolt the oil pump-to-engine block bolts and detach the pump from the engine, noting that the pickup tube and oil filter adapter can remain attached if desired. Use a block of wood and a hammer to break the oil pump gasket seal, then pull out the oil pump from the engine block. Clean the mating surfaces with a scraper and solvent. Remove the screws holding the rear cover on the oil pump and lift it off, then clean all components and inspect for wear and damage. Remove the oil pressure regulator cap, washer, spring, and valve, checking the oil pressure regulator valve sliding surface and spring for damage, which requires replacement as a set if necessary. Measure the clearances of oil pump components with a feeler gauge and calipers, comparing the measurements to the specified clearances; if any are excessive, replace the entire oil pump assembly. Pack the pump with petroleum jelly to prime it, assemble the oil pump, and tighten the screws securely. Install the oil pressure regulator valve, spring, and washer, then tighten the cap. Apply RTV sealant to the oil pump mounting surface, use new gaskets on all disassembled parts, and reverse the removal procedure for installation, ensuring to align the flats on the crankshaft with those on the oil pump gear and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque, replacing the rubber O-ring before installing the oil pick-up tube.
