    Q:
How do you replace the crankshaft pulley, timing belt, and front oil seal on Nissan Maxima with SOHC engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the crankshaft pulley, timing belt covers, and timing belt. Carefully remove the crankshaft sprocket using a prybar or two screwdrivers, taking care not to damage the oil pump body. If the sprocket cannot be pried off, drill and tap two holes into its face and use a bolt-type puller to remove it from the crankshaft, ensuring not to reuse a drilled sprocket. Remove the inner timing belt guide, noting the outward-facing side, and carefully pry the oil seal out with a screwdriver, avoiding any scratches or nicks on the crankshaft. Before installation, apply a thin coat of multi-purpose grease to the inside of the seal. Fabricate a seal installation tool using a short length of pipe slightly smaller than the seal's outside diameter, ensuring the end is free of sharp edges. A long bolt matching the crankshaft pulley bolt thread pitch and a large washer slightly larger than the pipe will also be needed. Press the oil seal into position using the installation tool, tightening the bolt until the seal is bottomed in the housing without turning it further to avoid damage. Install the inner timing belt guide onto the crankshaft nose, ensuring the Woodruff key is in place. Apply a thin coat of assembly lube to the inside of the timing belt sprocket and slide it onto the crankshaft. Finally, reinstall the remaining components in reverse order of removal, tightening all bolts to the specified torque.

    Q:
How do you install the new seal for the 2007 Nissan Maxima? Posted by Customer
    A:
Drive the seal into the bore using a large socket and hammer until it is fully seated, ensuring the socket matches the outside diameter of the seal and that it is pressed into place until it bottoms against the cover flange.

    Q:
What is the preferred tool for installing the new seal for the 2004 Nissan Maxima? Posted by Customer
    A:
Preferably, a seal installation tool should be used to press the new seal into place.

    Q:
What is the procedure for installing the new seal into the retainer for the 2000 Nissan Maxima? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, ensure the retainer is clean and apply a thin coat of engine oil to the outer edge of the new seal. The seal must be pressed squarely into the retainer bore; hammering it into place is not recommended. If a press is not available, the retainer and seal can be sandwiched between two smooth pieces of wood and pressed into place using a large vise. The wood must be thick enough to distribute the force evenly around the seal's circumference, and care should be taken to ensure the seal enters the bore squarely.
