These joints are capable of angular movement but not axial movement. They should be cleaned, inspected, and repacked whenever an outer CV joint boot is replaced, but they cannot be disassembled. If an outer joint is damaged, it must be replaced.

Pull out on the steering knuckle and detach the driveaxle from the hub, being careful not to pull on the brake hose. If the brake hose prevents you from pulling the knuckle out far enough, remove the caliper (without disconnecting the hose) and hang it with a piece of wire from the coil spring.
