To remove and install the tie rod end, first raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jackstands before removing the wheel. Identify the faulty tie rod end, which will exhibit significant play and likely have a ripped dust cover. Remove the cotter pin and the tie rod ball joint stud nut, taking note of the steering linkage's position. Loosen the tie rod-to-steering gear locknut, then use a Ball Joint Remover tool to detach the tie rod ball joint from the steering knuckle. Next, loosen the locknut and remove the tie rod end from the tie rod, counting the complete turns it takes to free it. For installation, position the new tie rod end by turning it in the same number of turns as the old one was removed, ensuring correct alignment with the steering linkage. Fit the ball joint and nut, tighten them, and install a new cotter pin, torquing the ball joint stud nut to the specified values: 40-72 ft. lbs. for the 200SX model, 22-36 ft. lbs. for the 240SX model, and 22-29 ft. lbs. for all Stanza models. Always replace cotter pins and, if necessary, the retaining nut.
