To replace the thermostat, you need to raise the front of the vehicle, remove the splash guard, drain the cooling system, remove the exhaust manifold heat shield, loosen clamps and remove the lower radiator hose and transaxle fluid cooler hose. Then, unscrew the water inlet mounting bolts, remove the water inlet, clean the water inlet and engine block mating surfaces, and install a new sealing ring onto the thermostat. Finally, insert the thermostat into the housing, refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.
