To remove the engine and transaxle as an assembly, first disconnect the wiring from the transaxle connections and remove the wiring harness. Next, remove the starter and the transaxle-to-engine mounting bolts, organizing them by length for reinstallation. Then, separate the transaxle from the engine. For installation, if the clutch components were removed, install them and always replace the clutch release assembly contained in the bell housing whenever the transaxle is removed. Slide the transaxle forward, ensuring the dowel pins engage with the corresponding holes in the block and the input shaft aligns with the clutch plate hub splines, avoiding excessive force. If necessary, adjust the angle of the transaxle or the input shaft for proper engagement. Finally, install and tighten the transaxle housing-to-engine bolts to the specified torque, ensuring they are placed in the correct holes, and complete the installation by reversing the removal steps.

After separating the trans axle from the engine, slide it away, remove the torque converter, and seal the open end to prevent contamination.
