    Q:
How do I remove the steering wheel on Nissan Frontier? Posted by Customer
    A:
Detach the Positive and negative battery terminals, wait for at least ten minutes before removing the steering wheel. After that, detach the little cover below the steering wheel and unplug airbag module connector. Pry off side covers and remove torx bolts behind them. Some versions may have a screw instead of a cover securing the cruise control or stereo control switch. Now, lift out the airbag module from the steering wheel. Turn the steering wheel so that wheels are straight ahead. Remove steering wheel holding nut also note down where it was connected to the shaft of Steering column. Disconnect electrical connector from Cruise Control wiring harness and remove horn connector if it exists. Pull off using a puller ensuring that you do not hammer on shaft but separate a steering wheel from its shaft in case there is need to do this process through detaching screws fastening it to column, disconnecting an electrical connector and unscrewing it off column. When installing align turn signal cancel tab with notch in combination switch or straight ahead front wheels if clock spring had been removed upon installation.Rotate clockwise then counterclockwise until arrow on bottom has aligned with pin on clockspring hub at bottom until clock spring stops moving.Pull wires out of airbag module and cruis control system through that part of steering wheel where they are located to ensure that pin guides ensuring engagement with corresponding holes by use of clockspring are engaged.Plug horn back in if you had untangled it.Install back retaining nut and tighten it.Put back new torx bolts for securing airbag module and replace side covers cruise control switch when applicable.Attach airbag module connector then put lower cover. On engine start, turn extreme left and right to reset clockspring.Run Ignition key into On or Start position to check if "AIR BAG" warning light comes on momentarily.Verify proper functioning of airbag circuit by turning ignition key into "Start" or "ON" position.Key should be turned on or started; as a result, "AIR BAG" warning light should illuminate momentarily before going off.
