Nissan Frontier Brake Proportioning Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove, replace, and install the Load Sensing Valve (LSV) on Nissan Frontier?
A: Raise the vehicle and support it securely, then unscrew the nuts and remove the bolt. Disconnect the height sensing spring and loosen the tube nuts. Pull the Brake Lines away and plug the ends, then remove the Brake Proportioning Valve mounting bolts. Unbolt the Brake Proportioning Valve, disconnect the spring, and installation is reverse of removal. Tighten the bolts, lubricate the spring and bolt, then bleed the brake system. Lower the vehicle, roll it back and forth, then have one person sit in the driver's seat and another person stand on the rear bumper. Crawl under the vehicle and push the Brake Proportioning Valve lever against the bolt, then measure the distance from one end of the spring to the other. Reposition the bracket as necessary, and check the brakes in an isolated area before driving.
