Nissan Juke Crankshaft Gear Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you properly remove and refit the cam gear, crankshaft gear, timing belt idler pulley, and timing belt tensioner during a timing belt service on Nissan Juke?
A: To pull the crankshaft sprocket out, you have to first take off the timing belt and then, you can take the sprocket from the crankshaft being careful about the orientation. For refitting, remove any debris on the crankshaft nose and the sprocket bore, make sure the sprocket is placed back on the crankshaft the right way and then properly fasten the timing belt. For the high-pressure pump sprocket, a suitable puller Is needed; first to remove the timing belt for holding the sprocket shaft and then to unscrew the central nut and at last use a puller to remove the sprocket from the pump and get the Woodruff key back. There should be a Woodruff key and it should be locked, engage the securing nut to the required torque and replace the timing belt tension. For the camshaft sprocket, you need to take off the timing belt to make the sprocket stay still then, unscrew the central nut to free the camshaft sprocket's position on the spline while freeing it while noting the proper alignment. The camshaft sprocket is to be refitted and the splines have to engage correctly, and then a bolt has to be inserted and tightened to the correct torque force and the timing belt tension had to be corrected. To reverse the process and to dismantle the tensioner one has to have the timing belt and securing nut loose, take off the washer and pivot bolt and then pull the tensioner assembly out. The replacement of the tensioner is carried out in the reverse sequence and then tension of the timing belt is adjusted.
