Nissan Juke Crankshaft Pulley Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you properly remove and reinstall the crankshaft pulley, ensuring correct alignment, use of the Woodruff key, and torque settings during the process on 1.6L petrol Nissan Juke?
A: To remove the auxiliary drivebelt, first, position No 1 cylinder at TDC on its compression stroke if necessary. To prevent crankshaft rotation while unscrewing the pulley bolt, hold the pulley with a suitable tool that locates in the slots to prevent it from turning; if unavailable, select top gear and have an assistant apply the brakes firmly. Unscrew the pulley bolt and its washer, then remove the pulley from the crankshaft. If the pulley is a tight fit, use a puller to withdraw it by refitting the pulley bolt and leaving it approximately 5mm out from the pulley face, then tighten the puller's center bolt to extract the pulley. If the Woodruff key is loose in the crankshaft, remove and store it with the pulley. For refitting, place the Woodruff key back, align the crankshaft pulley groove with the key, and slide the sprocket onto the crankshaft. Lubricate the bolt head and threads with new engine oil, then refit the retaining bolt and washer. Lock the crankshaft as done during removal and tighten the pulley retaining bolt to the specified torque settings. For the final tightening stage, paint marks on the bolt head and pulley to indicate a 60° turn; tighten until the marks align. Finally, refit and adjust the auxiliary drivebelt.
