Nissan Rogue Brake Light Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to check, adjust, and replace the brake light switch or Cruise Control Switch (ASCD switch) on Nissan Rogue?
A: On 2013 and earlier models and 2014 and later Rogue Select models, the Cruise Control Switch is known as the ASCD (Automatic Speed Control Device) switch, while on 2014 and later models (excluding Rogue Select models), it has been replaced by the Brake Pedal position sensor. The brake light switch and Cruise Control Switch or brake pedal position sensor are located on a bracket near the top of the brake pedal, activating the brake lights when the pedal is depressed and canceling cruise control operation. To check the brake light switch, observe whether the brake lights illuminate when the pedal is pressed and turn off when released. If the brake lights do not activate or the cruise control does not cancel, ensure the brake pedal is correctly adjusted, then adjust the switch by turning it counterclockwise 45 degrees, pulling the brake pedal back while pushing the switch into its bracket until the threaded portion touches its stop, and finally turning the switch 45 degrees clockwise to secure it. For replacement, unplug the electrical connector from the switch, turn the switch 45 degrees counterclockwise, pull it to the rear to remove it, and then install the new switch in reverse order. After installation, adjust the brake pedal height and then adjust the switch accordingly.
