How should the hood be removed and installed properly on Nissan Sentra?

The hood is rather massive and its removal and installation requires certain efforts; for this reason, it is better to address this issue with the help of two persons. Initially, wrap the cowl area of the body and fenders with blankets or pads to avoid scratching the paint. It is advisable to draw some marks or draw a line around the hood hinge to help when installing so that they align properly, and remove any cables or wires that hinder the removal process. With an assistant supporting one side of the hood put your hand through the other side of the hood to support it; then, using the fingers of your other hand while putting pressure on the top of the hood, unscrew the hinge-to-hood nuts. Remove the hood and for installation always do the opposite of removal. For adjustment, the change in fore-and-aft and side-to-side positions can easily be done once the bolts or nuts are loosened by shifting the hinge plate slot. Define the movement by scribing a line around the hinge plate, then, slacken the bolts/nuts and position the hood as required and finally tighten the hinge bolts. It is however mechanisms to adjust the whole must be adjusted up and down or side to side on the radiator support so that the hood completes its shut down and is in flush with the fenders. It is marked around the hood latch mounting bolts and loosened then the latch assembly is repositioned and the bolts are tightened with the fit checked by closing the hood. Last, set the hood bumpers on the lower portion of the hood so that they touch the fenders when the hood is closed, and from time to time grease the latching mechanism and hinges with the white lithium-base grease.
