To access the control arm it is necessary to first but loose the wheel lug nuts and then lift the front of the car and put it on jackstands then take off the wheel. Next, remove the connecting balljoint pinch bolt and then pull out the balljoint stud from the steering knuckle such that the rubber boot is not distressed. Next, the control arm bushing bolt nuts and bolts have to be loosened before the control arm itself can be pulled out. For assessment purpose, the front and rear bushings have to be inspected; in case there is a crack or tear then the control arm has to be changed because one cannot change the bushings separately. Also, check the control arm to ensure it is straight; if not, replace it because trying to straighten it is not encouraged. For installation, the parts are always put back in reverse of how they were removed, and all fastening bolts and nuts tightened to their respective standard torque. Last, fix the wheel on the car and the lugs nuts to the right torque, then you should lower the car and after you are through with the job you may need to check the front wheel alignment.

Raise the lower suspension arm with a floor jack to normal ride height and tighten the suspension arm bolt/nuts to the specified torque, ensuring alignment of the marks on the adjusting cam and subframe, followed by tightening the wheel lug nuts.
