To inspect the vehicle, firmly apply the handbrake, jack up the front, and support it securely on axle stands. Check the mounting rubber for cracks, hardening, or separation from the metal, renewing it if any damage is evident. Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened, using a torque wrench if possible. Check for wear in the mounting by carefully levering against it to detect free play; if excessive wear is found, first ensure fasteners are secured, then renew any worn components. For the right-hand mounting, disconnect the battery negative terminal, place a jack beneath the engine with a block of wood, and raise it to support the engine's weight. Slacken the securing bolt and disconnect the earth wire from the mounting bracket, then remove the retaining bolts from the inner wing panel and engine mounting bracket to withdraw the complete mounting. Inspect all components for wear or damage and renew as necessary. Refit the engine mounting and bracket, securely tightening the retaining bolts, then lower the jack and reconnect the earth cable and battery negative terminal. For the left-hand mounting, remove the battery and tray, place a jack beneath the transmission, and raise it to support the weight. Remove the centre retaining nut and the two outer retaining nuts to withdraw the mounting from the upper bracket. If needed, remove the upper and lower mounting brackets by undoing their retaining bolts. Inspect all components for wear or damage and renew as necessary. Refit the brackets, securely tightening the retaining bolts, align the left-hand rubber mounting with the lower bracket, and tighten its nut. Refit the outer retaining nuts and tighten them, then lower the jack and reinstall the battery and tray. For the rear lower mounting, apply the handbrake, jack up the front, and support it securely. Remove the bolts securing the rear mounting bracket to the transmission and withdraw the bracket. Remove the bolt securing the rear mounting link to the subframe and withdraw the link. Inspect all components for wear or damage and renew as necessary. Reassemble by fitting the rear mounting to the subframe and tightening the retaining bolt, then refit the mounting bracket to the transmission and tighten its bolts. Finally, lower the vehicle to the ground.
