For the KA24DE engine in the 240SX model, additional steps include releasing fuel system pressure, disconnecting the negative battery cable, draining the cooling system and engine oil. Remove the cylinder head assembly, oil pan, oil strainer, and crankshaft pulley. Remove the front cover assembly, lower timing chain tensioner, tension arm, lower timing chain guide, and lower timing chain and idler sprocket. Check components for wear, replace as needed, clean mating surfaces, and replace the cylinder head gasket. Install the crankshaft sprocket, ensuring mating marks face the front, and rotate the crankshaft to set the No. 1 piston at TDC. Install the idler sprocket and lower timing chain, followed by the chain tension arm, chain guide, and lower timing chain tensioner. Install the front cover assembly, crankshaft pulley, oil strainer, oil pan, and the cylinder head assembly. Reinstall all remaining components in reverse order, reconnect the negative battery cable, refill fluid levels, and road test the vehicle for proper operation.
