    Q:
What steps should be followed to renew rear brake discs and pads while ensuring even and consistent braking on Nissan Juke? Posted by Customer
    A:
If either disc requires renewal, both should be renewed at the same time to ensure even and consistent braking, and new brake pads should also be fitted. Begin by chocking the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on axle stands before removing the appropriate rear roadwheel. Fully release the handbrake. For the front disc, proceed with the removal of the brake pads if necessary. If not already done, repeat the process of jacking up the rear and removing the roadwheel while ensuring the handbrake is released. Unscrew the two bolts securing the caliper mounting bracket to the trailing arm, then withdraw the caliper assembly and suspend it using wire or string, taking care not to strain the brake fluid hose. If the original disc is to be refitted, mark the relationship between the disc and the hub, then pull the disc from the roadwheel studs. If the disc cannot be withdrawn easily, slacken the adjuster on the handbrake shoes inside the centre of the brake disc by removing the grommet and then slackening the adjuster wheel before removing the brake disc from over the handbrake shoes. Ensure that the mating faces of the disc and the hub are clean and flat, wiping them if necessary. If the original disc is being refitted, align the marks made on the disc and hub before removal, then refit the disc. If a new disc has been fitted, use a suitable solvent to wipe any preservative coating from the disc. Refit the caliper, ensuring that the pads locate correctly over the disc, and tighten the caliper mounting bracket securing bolts to the specified torque, refitting the brake fluid hose to the clip if applicable. Depress the brake pedal repeatedly until the pads are pressed into firm contact with the brake disc, restoring normal pedal pressure. Repeat the procedure on the remaining brake if a new disc was fitted, check and adjust the handbrake cable, then refit the roadwheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
